Vision
Make Chennai a home for artists.
To help Chennai become a city where every serious art student can find clear, structured training close to home.
About the academy
Founded in Mylapore in 2021, Mylai School of Arts now runs six branches across Chennai and has trained more than 250 students in drawing, painting and traditional Indian art.
Our story
Mylai School of Arts began in 2021 in Mylapore, Chennai, as a single studio opened by Artist Mylai Kanagaraj. After a decade in graphic design and years of formal training in Fine Arts, he wanted to create a space where students could learn art seriously.
The idea was simple: small classes, in-person teaching, and a curriculum that respects both tradition and modern practice.
Today the school has six branches across Chennai and has trained more than 250 students — from young beginners to adults preparing for a career in art.
Vision
To help Chennai become a city where every serious art student can find clear, structured training close to home.
Mission
To offer structured, in-person training in drawing, painting, sculpture and traditional Indian art — for every age and level.
Philosophy
We believe strong art comes from patient practice. We teach the fundamentals clearly, then help students develop their own style.
